Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening prayer

Make the Sign of the Cross. Act of contrition (from the historical novena): My sweetest Jesus, because Thou art so good, I am deeply sorry for having offended Thee; and with the help of Thy grace I resolve to die rather than sin. Amen. Pray the distinct daily prayer, then five Our Fathers and five Hail Marys in remembrance of Christ’s five wounds.

Prayer for day 6

My God and Lord, mirror of all true wisdom: receive the prudence with which Thou didst guide Thy servant Gertrude. She sought Thy instruction in the government of souls and in her duties. Imprint prudent judgment upon my soul and, through her prayers, grant the grace I seek and lead me to eternal glory. Amen.

Saint Gertrude the Great, pray for us.

Traditional prayers

Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
