Prayer to the Eternal Trinity by St. Catherine of Siena

ContemplationLove of GodHoly TrinitySt. Catherine of Siena
Eternal Trinity, Godhead, mystery deep as the sea, Thou couldst give me no greater gift than the gift of Thyself. For Thou art a fire ever burning and never consumed, which itself consumes all the selfish love that fills my being. Yes, Thou art a fire that takes away the coldness, illuminates the mind with its light, and causes me to know Thy truth. And I know that Thou art beauty and wisdom itself. The food of angels, Thou gavest Thyself to man in the fire of Thy love. Clothe me, clothe me with Thyself, Eternal Truth, so that I may run this mortal life with true obedience and the light of most holy faith, with which light Thou dost intoxicate my soul anew. Amen.
