Prayer for Enlightenment of the Mind by Thomas à Kempis

Clarify me, O good Jesus, with the brightness of internal light, and take away all darkness from the habitation of my heart. Repress my many wandering thoughts, and break in pieces those temptations which violently assault me. Fight strongly for me, and vanquish the evil beasts, the alluring desires of the flesh; that peace may be made in Thy virtue, and abundance of praise may resound in a holy court, that is, in a pure conscience. Send forth Thy light and Thy truth, that they may shine upon the earth; for I am dry and empty earth until Thou enlighten me. Amen.
