Fifth Sorrow and Joy of St. Joseph: The Flight into Egypt
ProtectionHoly FamilySeven Sorrows and Joys of St. JosephFlight into EgyptSt. Joseph
O most watchful Guardian, intimate familiar of the Incarnate Son of God, glorious St. Joseph; how much didst thou suffer in supporting and serving the Son of the Most High, particularly in the flight that thou hadst to make into Egypt; yet how great was thy joy in having always with thee the same God and in seeing the idols of Egypt fall to the ground! By this sorrow and this joy, obtain for us that, keeping the infernal tyrant far from us, especially by flying from dangerous occasions, every idol of earthly affection may fall from our hearts, and that, wholly occupied in the service of Jesus and Mary, we may live for them alone and die a happy death. Amen.
