Prayer to St. Lucy, Virgin and Martyr, for the Gift of Sight

Hear us, O God our Saviour, that as we rejoice in the festival of blessed Lucy, Thy Virgin and Martyr, so we may be instructed in the spirit of loving devotion. O glorious Saint Lucy, Virgin and Martyr, who didst prefer to let thine eyes be torn out rather than deny thy faith and defile thy soul: preserve the light of our eyes, that we may use them only to behold what is pure and pleasing to God, and bring us at last to gaze upon the Beatific Vision in heaven. Amen.
