Saint Andrew Avellino Novena

A traditional three-part prayer for Saint Andrew Avellino, the Theatine priest invoked against sudden and unprovided death. It appears in the 1910 Raccolta (no. 366), recording an indulgence granted in 1869. The same three petitions and responses are repeated on each of the nine days, November 1–9, before his November 10 commemoration. The historical word “apoplexy” commonly described what is now called a stroke. This devotion asks for spiritual preparation and does not replace immediate medical care.
